“I haven’t thought about it.”
Feifei is the son of the guesthouse owners and the youngest member of the Shanhe volunteer team. He is about to enter his final year of middle school. Quiet but considerate, he took on an important task during the garden’s early planning: together with Sanyi, he searched the valleys around Liju for a suitable site, learning the terrain through repeated walks and climbs.
Whenever he is home, Feifei is also the family’s “little helper.” He handles everyday tasks in the village shop and, when he has time, helps his mother in the restaurant by serving guests and clearing tables. Compared with many other children in the village, he and his younger sister each have a bicycle, which they use to move between the village and mountain roads.
When asked whether he might one day inherit the family guesthouse or leave to work elsewhere, Feifei answers shyly: “I haven’t thought about it.”
He does not rush to define his future. For now, he is finding direction through the ordinary rhythms of work, school, family responsibility, and exploration of the landscape around him.
